The Usual

Music blaring, she bobs her head, swaying to the loud breats as it streams out across the airwaves.
Twenty years old and the elemental finds herself at her part time job, supplying her waves of music to the masses, a medium that has certianly gained her not only notice, but friends as well. A few sat in the crammed studio, laughing, listening, over all having a small time party that had no restraints of factions.
This was usual life, hanging out mostly on the weekends, then back to business of the Voodoo shop when she returned to the reality of Toxia. DJ part time, Storm Bringer the rest.
It was remarkable how she had changed. From a bumbling, relativly quiet woman trying to find her way, she had advanced in over half a year. She had a lot to thank, but with that, she had to lose a lot too.
Only a few months ago, she was careful, ever suspicious of the world about her, but now, she was easy going; taking in everyone with a grain of salt. Yes, of course, there’d be those she’d forever distrust, but one important lesson she had learned: give everyone a chance, you might just gain something from it. But that was the ways of running the shop, dealing with the chores and the orders of people of the city.
So she stands, switching out disks as her mind seeped of far away thoughts, only occasionaly catching tid bits of a conversation, giving a grin every now and then.
Her thoughts did not dwell in the past all that often, but only enough to learn and remember from a lesson. In fact as she scanned the room, how long had she resided in Toxia exactly? All of these people, most of them her own Covenites, how long ago had she adopted them as her family? Surely, months ago the strength of her family was proven with the death of Lunana, the angel that so haunted for her teens. But with Lunana’s death, a dark sense of reality had taken hold of her. This aspect only made worse with her kidnapping by Eny Co.
She muffled a short laugh; that damn company had certianly scarred her for life. Snatching her from the streets, beings that were able to supress her after a nearly fatal fight. Cut her body open, trying to get at the core of sparks that fueled her being. It wasn’t so much that they had stolen her away from her place, but that they took her two sisters as well: Nerissa and Gwyn.
She stared at a disk, “King of the World” the title as she frowned. The Coven had tortured a girl for them, the leader that lead the ‘hunt’ for a new source from Toxia. Hell, even when she had escaped and returned home, she could not help herself but to slap the smaller woman around for what she had done.
They had tortured, sent back fingers of the girl to the owner of the company, demanding the return of Nerissa and Gwyn… and in the end, after a fight in the hospital, all but one of the original group of four was dead.
“Calleigh!”
She glanced off, chasing away the image of the face of Lauren as she turned her attention on the one in the room, grinning playfully.
Her past would have to haunt her later, she had no time.
